Alfonza Teel, RPA

Alfonza Teel was born in Greenville, N.C. and raised in northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. After high school he enlisted into the US Navy where he went to hospital corps school. When he graduated from hospital corps school he was stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital where he worked on an orthopedic ward. After his tour in the navy he graduated from Howard University Physician Assistant program in Washington, D.C. Alfonza Teel then worked as a Physician Assistant in the emergency room at a busy city hospital in Washington, D. C. He was well trained by board certified emergency physicians to give primary medical care to acutely ill and trauma patients. After working in the emergency room for 6 years Alfonza completed a 1 year post graduate general surgery program at St. Vincent hospital, Staten Island, NY. While he was in the post graduate program he received training in general surgery along with orthopedics, urology and neurosurgery.

PA Teel is a full time house staff member on the orthopedic service at Richmond University Medical Center. He provides primary care to in house orthopedic patients along with doing orthopedic consultations in the emergency room and to in house patients. Alfonza Teel performs reductions of fractures and dislocations, joint aspirations and injections. He is a member of the trauma team and provide primary care to orthopedic trauma patients. He first assist on orthopedic operating room cases ie; knee and shoulder arthroscopies, total joint replacements, tendon repairs and multiple fracture fixations. He also performs perioperative evaluations and post operative care. PA Teel also works in the orthopedic clinic and provide assessment and treatment of orthopedic problems. He also does splinting and casting of fracture sites.

PA Teel is also a part time associate of Regional Orthopedics where he provides office base clinical care. He provides clinical orthopedic evaluations to patients, formulate a diagnoses and recommend the most appropiate treatment options. Alfonza Teel performs joint injections and aspirations, splinting and casting. He also provide clinical care for postsurgical patients. PA Teel is also first assist in the operating room during surgery on the office based patients.
